A typical day on MARS consisted on working on your own, according to your timelines of the proyects you had to developed, in order to accomplish the objectives previously alligned with your boss, which had especific metrics to reach.
In MARS I learned to work in a structured way, to accomplish objectives and to see the company as whole, to inclued the cost-benefit part which I usually didn't see due my techinical education. I also learned how a carrer plan function and why it is important to develop managerial skills in order to reach a manager role. I also could see that, in order to such a big company to function, it is very important to creat a network of people worldwide with different abilities, so you can avoid mistakes that have already happened somewhere else or to shorten the time of a project you have in mind.
MARS has a very well strategy thought for all of its bussiness units worldwide,so it can be easier to their assotiates to understand how their work fits for the company.
The work culture was the same for all the business unit around the world, same values, same way of evaluation, more or less the same structure for the peer areas.
The most difficult part of the job was the reinvent yourself so you can accomplish and exceed the expectations that are on you.
What I liked more of the job is the learning I could have from all my mates. It make me realize which kind of company I wanted to be part of.
